The client’s existing galley kitchen felt disconnected from the rest of the home and lacked the warm, sociable setting this family of keen cooks needed. The redesign focused on improving flow and creating a more integrated space for cooking, gathering, and spending time together.

Create a more sociable family kitchen by improving function, increasing storage and introducing a welcoming space for cooking and gathering.
The Challenge
The galley format required a layout centred around workflow, with cabinetry designed to make the most of recesses and high ceilings. The existing layout had wall cabinets throughout that provided much-needed storage but made the space feel even narrower, so every element needed to work harder to maintain practicality while opening up the space.

Our Solution
We reconfigured the layout around function, designing cabinetry to perfectly fill the recess and maximise vertical storage. Removing wall cabinets freed up visual space, while a peninsula added seating and created a sociable focal point. Heritage green cabinetry brought warmth and character, contrasted by a lightly veined countertop. A solid oak shelf with integrated lighting added both practicality and softness. The finished kitchen balances function with sociability, creating a welcoming heart of the home.
